Ultraviolet: The Color of 2018

Despite being considered a color most suitable for dark hair, I wore the coldest, darkest shade of purple makeup throughout the entire time my hair was platinum blond… and I really loved it. I have a relentless desire to experiment with new nail, lip and hair colors, so I obviously couldn’t not try this super cool hue, and I have to say, I feel like it might be a new makeup bag essential.
“The latest trend is “Ultra Violet,” a dramatically provocative and reflective tone of purple,” commented Lee Eisenman, Pantone Color Institute’ s executive director. Lee feels that it expresses a visionary thought. “Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what awaits us and the discoveries to come. The vast, illuminated night sky is the symbol of all that continues to inspire the desire to discover a world beyond our own.”
Would you try this color? Here are some must-have products that give you the easiest options to experiment with:
To add a touch of bold color to your eyes, pair it with a coat of very black.
The loveliest shade of Ultra Violet? Metallic, obviously!
Soft, smooth and easy to smudge, it has a special formula that also allows for application along the inner lash line.
Somewhere between purple and dark plum, this lipstick has an opaque finish. Our advice? If you are putting a dark, intense color on your lips, make sure to keep the rest of your makeup minimal.
This intense purple lipstick offers an ultra-matte effect, and is perfect for bringing out the goth in anyone.
Choose a shade that reflects your mood by mixing this practical palette’s offering. It is also super easy to drop into your bag.
Think Ultra Violet is too dark for your lips or eyes? Try it on your nails first, for an out-of-the-ordinary manicure with this must have nail polish from Chanel.
