The One Product Eye Look

by Chinea Rodriguez

For your next night out, try to not keep it simple, but easy, when it comes to makeup. Not every night out needs a cut-crease and you may not have time to blend multiple eyeshadow colors together for the perfect smokey eye. But, the alternative isn’t to skip eyeshadow altogether but to try a shimmery shadow in liquid, stick or a cream formula instead; it can give you a quick and show-stopping look in fewer than 60 seconds.

Easy Eyeshadow Looks

Unlike matte shadows or liquid eyeliner, shimmer shadows are foolproof, they don’t have to look too perfect. You can apply with a dense shadow brush or pack product on the lid with your finger. To blend it out and soften the edges use the same method and diffuse the product into the crease. The final look is a smudged but sexy, shimmering eye look.

Ready to try this look out for yourself? We’ve rounded up some of the best shadows on the market. Keep reading to see our picks for easy eyeshadow looks.

Kosas 10 Second Eyeshadow, $28

You might have heard of this clean beauty brand’s lipsticks or their tinted face oil foundation but their unique formula liquid eyeshadows are worth a try as well. Coming in eight shades, the 10-Second Shadow is liquid and meant to be applied with your hands but you can use the applicator for more precise application.

Glossier Lidstar, $18

This sheer wash of shimmer and color is perfect for a natural look. Similar to the Kosas shadow you can apply with the applicator and blend out with your fingers. Pair one of these six sheer shades with a bold lip or a muted, nude lip to keep the look more natural.

Smith & Cult Glitterbaby Metallic Eyeshadow, $24

This unique formula is both shimmery and smokey. As you blend it out darker pigments appear giving a smokey eye effect. A little goes a long way, so start small and build up the coverage and pigments. Each of the 12 shades has a metallic, two-tone effect.

Stila Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow, $24

For more of a pearlescent sheen rather than a metallic glitter opt for this liquid shadow from Stila. The longwear shadow comes in 12 shades from rose gold taupe to a vibrant purple. For even more glitter you can pair this with their Glitter and Glow shadow.

Colourpop Jelly Much Shadow, $8

Not exactly a liquid and far from a cream, this jelly shadow imparts a metallic sheen on the lids. While it plays well with other shadows and eye products, you can use this on its own by applying and blending with a dense shadow brush. Like the rest of Colourpop’s products, this is affordable, at just under $10 so you can stock up on shades.

Chanel Illusion D’ombre Long Wear Luminous Shadow, $36

Chanel Beauty is a little on the pricier side but this cream shadow in their chic signature packaging is worth a splurge. The formula blends easily with the included brush and can be used as a shadow or a liner. There are three shades but New Moon a rosy shade is the standout.
