My Top 8 Spring Summer 2021 Handbags
Hey Pretty Birds,
For my style diary entry this week, I share the 8 handbag styles that I will be rotating all season. Join me as I talk a little about each bag and how I plan to wear them. What are your favorite styles? Any that I haven’t included here? Links to each bag below. Don’t forget to subscribe and follow us on our other platforms and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Tip #1: Updated Classics
Gucci x Ken Scott 1955 Handbag
I adore a classic bag, because I know that the style will endure the test of time. Gucci’s 1955 handbag is such a reference for me. Updated this season in bold prints by Ken Scott, a designer who lived and worked in Italy in the ’60s and ’70s, this stunner is a garden party on its own. Pair it with other bold prints, vintage denim, and bright solids.
Tip #2: Woven Styles
Bottega Veneta Jodie Mini Knotted Bag
The Jodi Mini revisits a house icon and I am 100% here for it. One of the season’s hottest bags, it literally looks good with E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. If you don’t believe me, head over to Instagram as this little beauty has inspired ‘many a mood board’.
Tip #3: Sequined Stars
Gucci Marmont Midi Sequin Bucket Bag
Add some sparkle factor to your life with a sequined handbag. Day dazzle or glitterati nights, amp up your look’s star power with Gucci’s sequin bucket bag.
Tip #4: Surprising Silhouettes
Wandler Lin Bag
Keep your eye out for novel, surprising handbag silhouettes like Wandler’s Lin bag that’s inspired by a fortune cookie. Unexpected shapes offer artistic or design twists that give your style that ‘well curated’ vibe.
Tip #5: Exotic Inspired Skins
Clare V Snake Midi Sack
Exotics are always such a luxe mood when it comes to handbags. Clare V’s faux snake skin (calf leather) Midi Sack cleverly unifies a chic silhouette with a sporty stripe detail. Wear the style casually across your body, or clutch it close for a chic pulled together look.
Tip #6: Quilted Candy
Dior Caro Bag
The Dior Caro quilted bag in cherry red (linked here in black) reminds me of old school jolly ranchers, because it is the ultimate eye candy. In any color, the rectangular shape is perfect for clutching, the Christian Dior CD logo is sleekly placed, and the adjustable chain strap is definitely the cherry on top. The style is truly versatile and will look amazing with your favorite Summer denim, party dresses, and especially Dior tulle skirts.
Tip #7: Padded Dream:
Proenza Schouler Padded Latch Shoulder Bag
An essential style this season because it doubles as a pillow, sling the Proenza Schouler Padded Latch bag over your shoulder pronto! When you finally emerge from lock down you’ll need a little head support at late evening dinner parties. It’s rough staying up past 10pm in the era of COVID-19.
Tip #8: Logo Heroes
Louis Vuitton Coussin
This season Nicolas Ghesquière handed us a logo gem for Louis Vuitton. The Coussin hits all the super hero notes: embossed monochromatic monogram, double strap option with a gorgeous logo inscribed on the chain strap; and three compartments to store all your essentials. Go sporty, or glossy and definitely secure this bag.
Thanks for keeping up with me this week!
Until next time, Pretty Birds! Xx
