Hey There Pretty Birds,
If you are part of our flock based in the United States, you may have pulled your winter coats out from the back of your closet for the Nor’easter this weekend?! Here in Milan, we might not be bracing for several feet of snow, but we are certainly embracing the chill of winter in our fashion. As we all load up on layers, I couldn’t resist sharing my best tips on pulling off your puffer jacket!
Introducing Tamu’s Style Diary: How to Style The Puffer Jacket Look
Puffer Jacket Style Tips From What I Wore Last Week…
My last entry catered to the fashionista pivoting between boldness and comfortability. We agreed that yes, you can have the best of both worlds! The same goes for bundling up in cold weather. You don’t have to exchange warmth for style, in the same way that comfort does not have to be transactional. When it comes to style, sometimes the question is not “less or more?” but “where and how?” In the case of styling your puffer jacket, this could not be more true! Follow along for pro tips on unique ways to style your puffer jacket look.
Tip #1: Create a waistline by belting your puffer jacket and distributing volume! (Pro Tip: Always consider the compatibility of textures when accessorizing monochromatic looks)
Tip #2: Struggling to style a printed puffer jacket? Extract your favorite colors and incorporate them into your accessories. (Don’t be afraid of playing up your boldest hues!)
Tip #3: Looking to make a color statement? Match a solid puffer with a shoe or handbag in a similar shade. Pair these with neutral tones or black to create balance!
Tip #4: If keeping it casual is your go-to, play up your dimensions by starting with a black and white base that amplifies your layering skills. Consider a pop of contrast color with a turtleneck!
Tip #5: For the quick runs where we sometimes just can’t be bothered, you can never go wrong with an all-neutral palette!
(LOOK FIVE: The North Face Gucci Puffer Jacket, Wool Knit Lace Up Bralette in Heather Grey, Ribbed Deep Slit Neck Sweater in Eggnog, Celine Glove Bootie Laced Ankle Boot, Bottega Veneta Crossbody Bag, Taupe Knit Biker Shorts)
Tip #6: Your military style puffer jacket needs a statement boot! That’s it. That’s the tip.
Tip #7: Volume speaks volumes and when styling your puffer jacket look, pay attention to the details you can replicate in other parts of your outfit. Repeat textures in different pieces with colors from the same family! (Pro Tip: A ‘Berry’ color palette is always a good move; reds, pinks, and purples!)
