Rainbow Style

From red to violet and every shade in-between, rainbow hues are making a major impact this spring. Spotted all over the streets this past fashion month and continuing on to the fall runways, this multi-colored trend is proving itself a fashion mainstay. I’ll admit, I was hesitant to try out this tricky look. How could I style these pieces to feel more fashion star and less Rainbow Bright? Keeping in mind the need to balance these whimsical colors with my grown up wardrobe, I began searching for the best prismatic pieces to introduce into my closet and you, Pretty Birds, will reap the benefits right along with me.  Shoes, bags, jewelry and ready to wear: we’ve found the best spectrum-shaded items no matter your look.

The easiest way to inject this trend into your wardrobe, shoe brands everywhere jumped into the multi-hued mania. From Loeffler Randall’s simple slides, the perfect piece to transition into your summer wardrobe, to the statement-making mules from Charlotte Olympia, ideal for a night out on the town or a street style snap, there surely is a style that works for any fashion occasion.

Another idea for injecting these spectrum shades into your closet is through a statement bag. Paired with other bright colors or classic neutrals, these fashion chameleons can work with almost any look. We particularly love the idea of styling these stunners with a primary-hued wide leg trouser and short sleeve sweater for a nod to the 70s. Or, if going retro isn’t your thing, then perhaps try these bags with a classic white sundress for the perfect spring look – even on the greyest of days.

Perhaps the O.G. of the rainbow trend, multi-colored jewelry has been making the rounds in the industry for the past couple seasons, and designers don’t seem to be letting up any time soon. With new pieces and silhouettes popping up, like Gucci’s enamel watch and Joanna Laura Constantine crisscross earrings, these pieces are proving that you don’t have to go big to make a statement. Sometimes the greatest style impact comes from the smallest sources.

While we’ve mostly chatted about accessories, the true MVP for this rainbow mania has got to be found in the ready-to-wear. Whether you’re wearing a head to toe multicolored look, like this adorable Caroline Constas set, or dipping a toe into this craze like with these Madeleine Thompson track pants the key to rocking this style without feeling too juvenile is to go for sophisticated silhouettes.
