Hi Pretty Birds,
Do you know what your breaking point is? Have you ever tried to find out? Chances are, it’s more far off than you think. Like you can push your body to what you think is your physical or emotional limit, and find out, in the course of doing so, that you don’t break, that you are capable of enduring so much more and that you are capable of accomplishing things you only dreamed of. That’s what training for the Nike San Francisco Half Marathon has helped me realize, and I would love for you to realize it too.
I was totally psyched when Nike invited to participate, as completing a marathon was one of the items on my recently started bucket list. I really looked forward to training and can say that it has been everything that I expected and more, and I am grateful for the experience. I have been fortunate to work with amazing trainers who have encouraged me with bold challenges, that have pushed me beyond my perceived limits, and who have ultimately helped me to formulate my own personal equation of #JUSTDOIT… No fear, inner strength, trust.
Oh, and the inspiring things that I’ve seen and experienced while training: like running past a group of young mothers at the park during a mommy and me class centered around their strollers; or while stretching, observing a gentleman, probably on his lunch break, complete alternating sprints/walks dressed in jeans and a leather jacket; or finally, having the huge pleasure of sharing the roads with Christy Turlington on a chilly and wet day in the Hamptons. We waved “keep going” every time we ran passed each other. Talk about a SUPER cheerleader.
I want to be clear, I still have a long way to go. This is just one of many new beginnings for me. The important thing is that I gave it a try, and it’s important that you do too. Get out there, push your limits. #JUSTDOIT.
