Gucci Rouge à Lévres Voile Lipstick in Fallen Sparrow
Coming from someone who barely wears makeup – and it is not because I am one of those “lucky” girls; it’s sheer laziness – when I invest in makeup I try to spend wisely on products and colors that can transcend seasons. Since we are finally enjoying the last days of Spring (it arrived two days ago here in italy), I am on the hunt for staple lipstick shades that will carry me through Labor Day, and beyond. And what better inspiration for fun lip color, than our very own chief lover, Tamu? Known for her minimal makeup style, she elevates her natural beauty aesthetic with the hottest lip colors of the moment.
Tamu’s lip game has me constantly raiding her makeup drawer in search of her more risqué colors, but I am ready to put on my big girl pants and start investing in my own collection. I’m not going to get too crazy though, this will be more like an easing myself into the first chilly swim of the Summer experience – no green iridescence hue for me just yet. Instead, look out for me in the following shades, ‘cause I’m ready to pucker up!
Gucci Rouge à Lévres Voile Lipstick in Blaze of Noon
The All-Timer: Nude
A nude lip is forever, but this season, some tones have been enhanced with more pigment, making their impact more intense. The great thing about a nude lip is that you can get crazy with your eye shadow or other elements of your makeup. Personally, I love wearing nude lipstick with very simple natural makeup for a total au natural look.
Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Het Loo
This lip pencil has a long-wear formula that provides intense, vibrant color and a satin finish. You can use it as a liner for a more dramatic lip or on its own for a unique lip color. Its vitamin-enriched shade hydrates and protects your lips while also making them look fuller.
Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip color in Bare
Tom Ford screams chic to me and the brand’s lip colors have always been part of my personal collection. This bare nude color is the perfect hue and also offers a lightweight, high shine formula. It combines one-stroke application of a lipstick, the high-shine of a lip-gloss, and the rich emollient of a lip balm – aka perfection.
Gucci Rouge à Lévres Voile Lipstick in Teresina Ruby
Honestly, I think Tamu looks the best in this berry color – almost as if it were designed just for her. Berry may seem like more of a fall color, but don’t let it fool you! Its bright, vibrant hue is another tone that transcends all four seasons.
Ilia Color Block High Impact Lipstick in Wild Aster
Ilia is one of our favorite clean makeup brands and this lipstick offers high-impact color as well as a smooth, creamy finish. With customized pigments, milled in castor seed oil, it offers 4x more color than any other lipstick the brand has ever made. Wow.
Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick in Hel’s Bells
Teaming up with famous celebrities, Charlotte offers 12 iconic lipstick shades. This matte berry gives a deep hue with its 3D glowing pigments to create the illusion of wider and fuller lips.
Gucci Rouge à Lévres Voile Lipstick in Agatha Orange
The Bold: Orange
The bolder, the better, no? The neon craze from the 80’s seems to be sticking around, so it is only fitting that we are finding it popping up in our favorite lip colors these days!
Gucci Rouge à Lévres Voile Lipstick in Agatha Orange
Needless to say we adore anything Gucci, so when the brand launched its new lipstick line we could not hide our elation. When Tamu came home from her Gucci lipstick euphoria in NY back in May, we needed all the details. This hue has a sheer finish and semi transparent color with luminous shine. It also has a floral fragrance with notes of violet and soft, fruity scent. Get you a lipstick that does both!
Bobbi Brown x Ulla Johnson Crushed Lip Color in Lou Lou
This is a limited edition lip color that combines lipstick and the feel of a lip balm. It’s loaded with crushed pigments, Vitamin C and E, plus beeswax. This formula glides on comfortably with a satin matte finish, leaving your lips hydrated.
Can’t Get Enough: Coral
It’s no wonder this color is popping up everywhere since Pantone picked living coral as a their hue of the year for 2019. Even thought it’s all over our Instagram feeds, I am still not tired of it. I think it would look best paired with minimal eyes and cheeks, so you can really let this modern color show off.
Chanel Rouge Allure Liquid Powder Matte Lip Color in Plaisir
A matte, creamy, powder-like lip color with its unique sponge applicator, this lip color offers light to intense coverage with a softly blurred matte finish. If it sounds chic, it probably will look chic, too!
Pat McGrath Labs Lust: Lip Gloss in Twilo
There is no denying #mother Pat’s knowledge and experience in makeup, so technically whatever she says, I will follow blindly. I must admit that I have already added her lip-gloss and lipsticks to my slowly growing collection. This ultra light gloss glides on flawlessly never leaving you feel sticky.
Smell the Roses: Petal Pink
Just like its friend nude, petal pink is another ultimate traveler between the various seasons. This hue seems to go with everything, not to mention it’s our chief lover’s favorite color. It gives your lips a flushed stain look, which can accentuate a natural or stronger look.
Giorgio Armani Beauty Lip Maestro in 501
A velvety-soft, matte lip stain that leaves your lips feeling instantly plumped. It has a non-sticky texture that offers hours of hydration and is infused with concentrated pigments that permeate the gel formula.
Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in Goals
An ultra-matte lipstick that delivers intense single stroke coverage and long lasting color. The slim bullet allows you define your lips and the built in sharpener makes sure you always have precision lining. No liner needed. Winner!
What lip colors are you including in your rotation this Summer. We’d love to know. Drop us a line in the comments!
