At least 192 people are missing and 75 are dead as a result of the explosion of the Fuego volcano in Guatemala, officials say. More than 1.7 million people have been affected by the eruption, with more than 3,000 evacuated.

American Fashion Designer Kate Spade Dead at 55.

The fashion designer was found dead in her New York City apartment on Tuesday, June 5, from an apparent suicide. Spade is best known for founding her eponymous fashion brand, recognized for its handbags and use of bright, vivid colors and patterns.


Betsy DeVos Says School Safety Commission Won’t Look at Role of Guns In School Shootings.

Testifying before the Senate appropriations subcommittee, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said the Federal Commission on School Safety, which she chairs, will not look at the role of guns in school shootings.


Supreme Court Rules for Colorado Baker in Same-sex Wedding Cake Case.

The Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to bake a cake to celebrate the marriage of a same sex couple because of a religious objection.The ruling was 7-2.

The court held that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission showed hostility toward the baker based on his religious beliefs.
