The Five Biggest Trends From Last Nights Emmys

Emmy Awards

Color me surprised, last night’s Emmys busted onto the fashion scene in a major way.  Usually one of the standout awards shows of the season for me in terms of entertainment, falling somewhere between the ultimate glam of the Oscars and the irreverent fun of the VMAs, I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised by last night’s style offerings.  With a heralding of new and exciting things happening in television from Stranger Things and Hand Maiden’s Tale, to Blackish we have entered a modern renaissance for TV and it seems that the stars of these momentous programs are likewise entering into a golden age of style. With everything from Chanel Haute Couture to Rosie Assoulin appearing along that ruby shaded carpet we are rounding up some of the fashion MVPs of last night and looking at the trends that have emerged among this new style guard.

Regal In Red

Just as in fall rtw collections red was surely the color of the evening. With everything from the carpet to some of the best dressed stars of the night featuring this ruby hue. We particularly loved Nicole Kidman’s 1950s inspired Calvin Klein number and their was absolutely nothing awkward about Issa Rae’s Vera Wang one shoulder gown.

Borrowed From The Boys

Tuxedo inspired fashion reigned supreme on last night’s red carpet. From the events most thanked person, Oprah, in her gorgeous black and white Elizabeth Kennedy creation to Rachel Evan Woods Custom Jeremy Scott all white look, that we are seriously dying to see go down the runway of next season Moschino collection,  proved that when it comes to boys style girls really do do it better.

Silver Screen Starlet

Forget gold perhaps the awards for most stylish of the night should be given out in silver, because that is definitely the color that all of our stylish picks of the evening were wearing. From Tracee Ellis Ross in Chanel Haute Couture, can we seriously say GORG!, to Sarah Paulson in Carolina Herrera their was no endless supply of silver style on display.

Pretty As A Princess

Hollywood’s young ingénues are giving tinsel towns older veterans a run for their money when it comes to stepping up their fashion game. These beautiful ballerina and princess inspired creations tick our style boxes in all the right ways: gorgeous, age appropriate, and ethereal in a way that makes us definitely excited to see these girls develop into style icons in the years to come. Also serious shout out to Thandie Newton one of our ultimate fashion MVPS of the night, who proves that age is just a number and that you’re never too old to rock a princess gown.

Black And Sheer All Over

[metaslider id=242365]

Black, sheer and sex appeal was the name of the game for last night’s sultriest trend. Appropriately worn by the ultimate in sizzling silver screen vixen Michelle Pfeiffer this look is one part sophistication the other part red hot style, creating a ensemble that sums up the ultimate red carpet look in a nut shell.  Also can we say that Leslie Jones was giving us life last night in her sexy high slit Christian Sirano number, it looks like this duo are on their way to creating a perfect red carpet combo.

Okay so here us out while these two ladies might be a trend among themselves we could not have finished this round up with out featuring these two magical ladies. Tess Thompson and Zoe Kravitz in their Technicolor creations were everything last night. Definitely reigning top of the fashion pack these ladies took the style lead and definitely deserved an honorable mention in this round up.
