It’s difficult to choose the top beauty trends spotted on the Fall/Winter 2018-19 runways: this is because we saw hundreds of shows and spotting trends is never easy. However, we are sure of one thing: in the upcoming season, more than ever before, makeup will focus on eyes. We can’t think of a single makeup artist who didn’t have fun pairing the most bizarre, extravagant looks thus drawing due attention to eyes. The undisputed common denominator was definitely eyeliner (from Tommy Hilfiger to Marco De Vincenzo to Prada, to name but a few brands whose looks we were able to see up close during Milan fashion week), pop color pairings (from A Detacher to Anna Sui and Sies Marjan to Tibi on New York runways) and, finally, thick, well-groomed eyebrows. Whatever color you prefer wearing on your eyes, you can rest assured that at least one makeup artist backstage will have applied it to the eyelids of models. The message is clear: be bold, don’t limit yourselves to just a simple coat of mascara (though the most popular one on the catwalk is still the classic black).
From eyeshadow looks to hair looks: the top hairstyles have a very sophisticated finish, a sort of elegant vintage look (for example what we saw at Erdem) or a ‘60s mood as seen on Moschino models who flaunted a Jackie ‘O hair look. Backstage at J.W. Anderson, on the other hand, hair stylist Anthony Turner created a sleek, super cool bob. We also saw a lot of romantic updos enhanced by braids (Carolina Herrera, Ulla Johnson and Simone Rocha) or straight, neat, very girly hair (Delpozo). Of course, we mustn’t forget chignons and twists: the loveliest ones we saw were backstage at Antonio Marras and were styled by James Pecis (one of our absolute favorite hair stylists).
Finally, two colors are hot as far as nail art goes (colors we also saw quite a bit in clothing collections): red, in all of its numerous shades, and intense, creamy black. Both colors could be seen on long, well-shaped nails.

Graphic, bi-color makeup
Red and purple, together: two hues that add a rainbow essence to any complexion. Try blending them just like this makeup artist did on the inner corner of Gigi Hadid’s eyes.

Colors that recall what we saw in the collections and express romance and determination simultaneously. Heads up: best to apply nail polish on well shaped nails for maximum results.
