Spring Shoe Trends

Sale season is (finally) over, and all the glorious new-in pieces finally stocking the shelves. I’m excited to update my wardrobe from its monotonous winter uniform of pageboy cap, faux fur coat, sweater, jeans and moto boots (what can I say, I have a look). However, not being one to gravitate toward all of spring’s stylish offerings, today I have procured the assistance of a few familiar faces here at the site to round up our must-have footwear trends, and to share all the ways we will be rocking this season’s biggest styles.  So whether you want your look to feel more Westworld than PVC dream, or if a more relaxed sneaker vibe is your thing, we’ve got you covered.

Tamu McPherson Chief Lover Applique Boots

I love the optical effect of an appliqué-adorned shoe. The patterns are always interesting and the color combos range from chic to surprisingly fun! I’m thinking I’ll pair this festive footwear with more patterns for a look that definitely feels mix-and-matchy in all the right ways.

As part of my effort to force myself to slow down my life and be more present, I am swapping out my default running-around-town Chelsea boots and loafers for a more feminine, high maintenance look with new mules for spring. I am hoping the reduced mobility allows me to stop and smell the flowers more often, and look much more sophisticated doing it. I’ll still wear my frayed denim and patent trench, but softened up with a decidedly feminine finish beneath.

From plexi to PVC, one of spring’s biggest shoe trends is making a major case for clear footwear. Blame the attraction on my inner 90s child, or the fact that I watched too much Cinderella growing up, but this style is totally up my alley. With a mix of feminine silhouettes and flirty peek-a-boo paneling, these beauties manage to balance sexy and stylish into one gorgeous package.  For a total boss babe moment, I’ll be wearing these with a sleek suit for a take-charge look that is sure to inspire. I’ll just have to remember to get a pedicure before I wear them #fashionstruggles.

Cowboy boots have been given new life this spring! It’s been my favorite trend to watch because they’ve been revitalized in really fun styles. So far this year, I’ve seen cowboy boots with a lucite heel worn by Solange, Tamu’s cherry red Golden Goose Deluxe Brand boots and an amazing color blocked pair by Tommy Hilfiger. I’m ready to turn on Daddy Lessons and go for the entire western look at this point.

I’ve always appreciated function a bit more than fashion. We all lead busy lives, and it’s impossible to walk in 4-inch heels all day unless you’re a Kardashian. But with the new sneakers out, I don’t have to sacrifice one for the other. Stylish and comfortable, these shoes are the main element of my wardrobe; they’re ideal for anyone who’s constantly on the run and their bright colors and fun shapes add interest to every look. I love to wear mine with a simple pair of jeans and a long masculine coat or midi dress.
