Boots to Put Some Spring in Your Step (43 Days Early)

by Jessie Ajluni

The end of January… perhaps one of the hardest times of the whole year to dress yourself. Winter products having come and gone, old news with the fashion circuit and regular consumers alike. Spring products are just starting to make their presence known in stores, while Mother Nature is still hell bent on keeping our newest style obsessions far out of reach with her icy clutches.

But fear not, Pretty Birds! Today we are defying nature with fashion by bringing you some of the best spring boots that breathe fresh life into an otherwise stale wardrobe, but also keep us looking cool and staying cozy all at the same time. From the cutest kitten heels to some seriously bitchin’ 90s remix boots, we are taking back winter, and doing it in style.

Kitten Heel Boots

I must admit, I have always had a love/hate relationship with kitten heels. As a petite woman, I gravitate towards my platforms – the higher the better for almost any occasion – and these demurely-heighted footwear always felt non-committal at best. But, as the years go by, I have found myself constantly turning to flats to get me through the longest days on set, or dashing from appointment to appointment in the dreariest of icy weather. These short-stacked beauties are bringing new life, and height, to my transition wardrobe.  The perfect marriage of fashion and function, they are comfortable while still giving me that little something extra to jazz up my most basic of looks.

90s Grunge Boots

Call it my inner Avril Lavigne or Paramour fan, but the resurgence of the 90s grunge boot speaks to my teenage self in a way that few fashion styles can.  I wasn’t one to fall into the choker or slip dress fads of 2017, but I admit that this footwear fashion channels my nostalgic vibes while still managing to make me feel like I am a bad-ass boss babe able to tackle the toughest of meetings. Not to mention their tractioned soles are perfect for even the snowiest of days, making these boots my fashion MVPs when it comes to the perfect winter to spring transitional footwear.

Western Inspired Boots

As a woman that grew up in the South, and one currently married to a Texan, cowboy boots have always felt costumey at best. But, designers are proving that this gal can learn some new style tricks with some cleverly designed boots that manage to channel the westernwear trend in a way that feels modern and cool and less like I’m attending a Halloween party. With sleek silhouettes and sophisticated color palettes like patent and metallic, these boots prove that in the world of fashion, we can all find our inner cowboy.

Lucite Heels Boots

There are few styles that I love more than a statement heel and, lucky for me, this spring designers are offering up some truly spectacular Lucite and Plexi iterations. From Ellery’s oxblood and interstellar inspired version to Balmain’s allover crystal clear bootie, there is no shortage of options to bring you from the final bitter cold weeks of winter to perfect Spring days ahead.
