fall essential oil recipes

Fall is here, but does it smell like it? If you’re working from home and missing your commute (is that possible?) with falling leaves and autumnal scents along the way, here are some Fall essential oil recipes to help you keep the season alive! There are a million and one uses for (and benefits of) essential oils, but these are specifically for use in an air diffuser, not to ingest or apply to your skin.

Please also note that essential oils are not always safe to use if you have pets, as they can be toxic.

Best Fall Essential Oil Recipes

I’ve enjoyed experimenting with essential oils over the years to purify the air at home or to create a relaxing atmosphere. There are plenty of branded essential oil blends you can use, but I really like making my own little mixtures. For anyone using a large diffuser, you could add an extra drop or two of each essential oil, but a little really goes a long way.

Autumn Essential Oil Recipes

  • 2 drops Orange + 1 drop Cinnamon + 1 drop Clove + 4 drops Vanilla
Get the spicy and sweet seasonal scent of mulled wine without the hassle of actually making it! The cinnamon aroma gives you a mood boost and keeps you alert throughout the day.
  • 5 drops Orange + 2 drops Patchouli + 1 drop Ginger
This is a crisp blend that really smells like the falling leaves and sparkling air that we love so much this time of the year.
  • 3 drops Pine + 3 drops Cedarwood + 2 drops Frankincense
Take a walk in the woods with these woody, earthy essential oils.
  • 3 drops Frankincense + 3 drops Fir + 2 drops Bergamot + 2 drops Juniper
Enjoy the essence of the outdoors, brought into your home with these forest fresh scents.
  • 2 drops Cedarwood + 2 drops Sandalwood + 1 drop Cypress
You might want to bring your own s’mores to this campfire blend.

Essential oil recipes for energy and motivation

  • 3 drops Lemon + 3 drops Peppermint
These are both great on their own, but together they provide an energizing aroma that will pick up any mood or help to motivate you for your daily tasks.
  • 3 drops Rosemary + 3 drops Grapefruit
I’ve heard that Rosemary boosts memory, which I always remember when I put this recipe into my diffuser, so if you’re studying or researching this could be the right combo for you!
  • 3 drops Coriander + 3 drops Peppermint
This is another pairing that will enhance any positive mood with strong, spicy herbal notes. Coriander also pairs really well with Bergamot, Black Pepper, Grapefruit, or Sweet Orange.
  • Inspire by Body Bliss
Tamu gifted me with this gorgeous scent on her travels to Sedona, Arizona, and it’s a really comforting and uplifting blend including geranium, nutmeg, black pepper, rosemary, and more.

Essential oil recipes for colds or immune support

  • 3 drops Lavender + 3 drops Eucalyptus + 2 drops Tea Tree + 1 drop Peppermint
Sniffling up a storm? This is my go-to for colds or stuffed sinuses. Lavender and Eucalyptus are also beautiful as a pair.
  • 3 drops Lemon + 3 drops Lavender + 2 drops Tea Tree
Clear your congestion by diffusing this blend or adding them to a steamy bath to help your breath easier.
  • Thieves: 4 drops Clove + 4 drops Lemon + 2 drops Eucalyptus + 2 drops Cinnamon +1 drop Rosemary
This is a spicy, earth miracle blend to many, which you can get blended in a bottle, or make your own if you have each of these essential oils. It’s also used in DIY household cleaners for its amazing benefits and scent.
