Trump is expected to end DACA, with 6-month delay
Two of the sources said the plan is to have a six-month delay in any action regarding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program to allow Congress time to pass a fix through legislation that would allow the undocumented immigrants to stay in the country. The program gave qualified applicants protections from deportation and the ability to work and study in the US. Here is how to contact your representative about DACA. #DefendDaca
Vogue Italia’s September Issue Dedicated to Italy for First Time
The September issue of Vogue Italia for the first time will be dedicated entirely to Italy with three theme-related covers photographed by Inez & Vinoodh, Mert & Marcus and Willy Vanderperre. Mariacarla Boscono will front each cover a celebration of her 20 years as a model. One of the covers, dedicated to the kiss, has already sparked a positive and strong reaction on Instagram. The image by photographers Mert & Marcus reflects the magazine’s stance against all forms of sexual orientation and gender discrimination.
North Korean Nuclear Test Draws U.S. Warning of ‘Massive Military Response’
North Korea’s detonation of a sixth nuclear bomb on Sunday prompted the Trump administration to warn that even the threat to use such a weapon against the United States and its allies “will be met with a massive military response.’’ Donald Trump then tweeted that the United States is considering stopping trade with any country doing business with North Korea. Those countries include China, India, France, Russia, Brazil, Mexico, Germany and Saudi Arabia.
L’Oreal Drops Transgender Model After ‘All White People’ Post on Racism
Transgender model Munroe Bergdorf made history earlier this week when it was announced that she would be the face of a L’Oréal UK campaign. But after attention was called to her Facebook post on racism following the events in Charlottesville, Va., the cosmetics corporation decided to let her go. UK media outlet Daily Mail published Bergdorf’s Facebook post in which the model said white people must “admit their race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth.”
Astronaut Peggy Whitson Ends Record-Breaking Space Mission with Smooth Landing
Three space travelers safely returned to Earth from the International Space Station today (Sept. 2) as their Soyuz MS-04 spacecraft touched down on the steppes of Kazakhstan, ending a record-shattering mission for one American crewmember. NASA’s record-breaking astronaut Peggy Whitson returned home on the Soyuz from an extended 288-day mission to the International Space Station (ISS). During her stay, she set a new record for the most cumulative time in space by an American with 665 days accrued.
