Cannes 2017: top beauty and hair looks

Wavy hair and eyes that stand out: this year the stars on the red carpet focused on their gaze with smokey eyes in shades of green, brown and black, perfectly balanced with their natural finish makeup looks. No accentuated sculpting, nor lips dressed in very bold colors − the divas opted for natural, luminous makeup characterized by homogenous complexions that glow before the photographers’ flash. We’ve selected 12 beauty looks for you to replicate. We explain how with these tips.

Deepika Padukone, Naome Harris, Mary J. Blige and Sara Sampaio’s smokey eyes

The Indian actress/model’s look was created by Val Garland per L’Oréal Paris. To get the look, the makeup artist used Infallible Eye Paint in 104 Unstoppable Teal by L’Oréal Paris and smudged it well past the outer corner of her eyes. To create balance, her lips were brushed with a nude lipstick. The makeup was then sealed with a generous coat of mascara. We recommend this makeup look to those who have hazel eyes and an even skin tone. Naome Harris went for a more classic hue: dark brown paired with a brighter pink lipstick, while Mary J. Blige chose a classic smokey black. Finally, Sara Sampaio mixes shades to make her gaze even more intense. Her beauty look works well for everyone. (Credit ph: L’Oréal Paris,

Bella Hadid and Eva Herzigova’s bobs

Wavy and lively, the model’s new haircut gets a massive thumbs up. Who says you have to choose a classic hairdo for the red carpet? From soft hair falling onto shoulders to half updos, this year the stars were highly creative. If you have an oval face or slightly round, this is the top glam cut for you. Be sure to style with specific products to avoid fuzziness. Another wavy blunt worth noting was Eva Herzigova’s who chose a nude beauty look created by makeup experts at Dior. (Credit ph: Getty Images, Dior)

Elle Fanning’s cat eye makeup

Many of the stars who graced the French red carpet focused their beauty looks on cat eye makeup, including Elle Fanning who’s makeup was done by makeup artists at L’Oréal. To create the look, they used a precision eyeliner along with some fundamental very black mascara. We really like the fuchsia lipstick which adds a girly touch to the finish. (Credit ph: GettyImages)

Monica Bellucci, Petra Nemcova and Jessica Chastain’s side dos

Monca Bellucci, the Festival’s godmother, opted for a very feminine hairdo which was immediately “copied” by Petra Nemcova. In both cases, hair was enhanced with curls and waves that had a vintage allure and which added a touch of great femininity to their hair look. This look is definitely worth replicating if you have long or very long hair that is not that straight. Another ladylike look which is also very elegant was Jessica Chastain’s, who is always among the most beautiful stars to walk down the red carpet. (Credit ph: GettyImages,

Michelle Williams and Kristen Stewart’s pixie cuts

The two actresses’ platinum blonde pixie cuts did not go unnoticed − Kristen is at the Festival in the role of director. Williams’s cut is slightly more feminine, while Stewart flaunted a marine cut, and both styles are rather unusual for a red carpet. Which do you prefer? (Credit ph: GettyImages,

Rihanna and Adriana Lima: a touch of red

Red like the red carpet: a color that’s always present. If Rihanna chooses it exclusively for her manicure − long, painted nails for the singer − Adriana Lima wears it on her lips as well, for an intense color with a creamy finish. (Credit ph: Nanopress).
