If theres one thing I truly love about my job, its the opportunity to see firsthand what happens backstage at fashion shows. It is a genuinely magical moment, meeting the top makeup artists and seeing them in action – and thanks to their work, I also get to discover all of the new beauty secrets that I share with you. Going from fashion shows to press previews over the past few months has let me gather up all of the makeup trends for the upcoming seasons. What will be the biggest beauty looks of 2018? Discover the top 10 makeup ideas to replicate for the new year below.

Bright shadows

Makeup will focus on eyes that are dressed in intense, bright, pop colors like blue and yellow. Inspiration comes from the runway at Novis: NARS Global Artistry Director Uzo wanted to play with a flash of yellow around the eyelids to create a contemporary contrast while keeping the rest of the look nude and luminous. To add depth to the gaze,” suggests Michele Magnani, Global Senior Artist at MAC Cosmetics, add a stroke of dark eye pencil over the upper lash line, and use a very black mascara.

Glossy Lids

If they are not livened up by colorful powders and creams, eyes are brightened by a film of gloss: a trend that already has us on board. At the Etro show, makeup artist Mark Carrasquillo created a beauty look inspired by India; the models had complexions with a soft, luminous finish while eyelids were sweaty.

Full color

Chanel is synonymous with trend: everything we see on the runway immediately becomes the standard for super glam. Makeup artist Tom Pecheux created an eighties-inspired beauty look with a focus on eyes and lips; the color of the makeup is saturated, thanks to smokey eyes in peacock blue, blended with anthracite grey up to the eyebrows, while lips are lacquered in fire engine red.

Clump Lashes

In 2018, a lot of Sixties beauty trends will make a strong comeback.  Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director at Dior Make Up, took Twiggy’s famously cloggy lashes for inspiration when he wanted to accentuate the eye makeup in a very spontaneous mood, giving the impression that the girls applied their makeup on their own.” Stock up on black mascara, itll be your best beauty ally!
